Building a short link with Cut0 gives you a wide range of options to shape it exactly as you need. You can select a domain that reflects your style or brand, set a precise end date to determine how long the link will remain active, and instantly obtain a QR image to make it easy to share in printed or offline formats. To keep your links in order, you can attach tags, which help categorize them, streamline searches, and maintain a tidy structure as your collection grows. When you choose to track activity, the link becomes a running record of visits and interactions, offering a clear view of reach and engagement so you can fine-tune your preferences.
To generate a shortened URL:
- Sign in to Cut0.
- On the Home screen, select Create a new link.
Another way is to navigate to the Links page and choose the same option there.
- In the opened window, fill in the following fields:
- Destination URL – the full target address users will be redirected to when they click the short link (max 1000 characters).
- Short Link – the automatically generated shortened URL that directs to the specified destination.
- Domain – the domain name used in the short link. Choose from the available options, which may include the default domain as well as any custom domains (see Custom domains).
- Slug – the unique part of the URL that appears after the domain. You can use the suggested value, click the refresh icon (
) to generate a new random slug, or enter your own custom slug manually.
- Expiration Date – the date after which the short link becomes inactive and no longer redirects to the destination URL. By default, it is set to 30 days. You can change it by clicking the Edit icon (
) and selecting the desired date and time. Preset options are also available: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or Never Expires.
- Link title – a descriptive name used within the platform to help identify and locate the link more easily. It is for internal reference only and does not affect the URL itself or its redirect behavior.
- At this stage, you can:
- Click Create to generate and save the link (you will be redirected to the Links page), or
- Open the Customization options to adjust additional settings (you will be redirected to the Edit link page).
Regardless of which option you choose, the link is now saved in the system, and a confirmation message appears on the screen.
- If you select any of the customization options, you can further configure your link by using the following tabs on the Edit link screen:
- Basic settings – core details such as the link title and domain/slug selection.
- Tags – labels that help organize, filter, and quickly locate links.
- Deep Link – link that directs users not just to a website, but to a specific screen or section within a mobile application.
- QR code – an automatically generated QR image linked to the short URL.
Basic settings – this section allows you to update the destination URL, choose or change the domain, edit the short link slug, adjust the expiration date, and modify the link title.
Tags – tags help organize and group short links for easier management and filtering. The number of tags you can use depends on your subscription plan. If your plan includes limits, the system displays how many tags have already been used and the total number available. For plans without restrictions, this usage information is not shown.
Deep Link – a section that allows you to enhance a standard short link with deep linking functionality, enabling it to open a specific screen or section within a mobile application (see Deep links).
QR сode – a section where a QR image is automatically generated for the short link. This feature is enabled by default, and the generated QR can be downloaded directly from the browser in your preferred format.
The Edit link page also provides several additional actions:
- Duplicate – creates an exact copy of the existing short link with all the same settings. This is useful when you need to quickly generate a similar link without configuring it from scratch.
- Analytics – opens the link performance data, including click statistics and related metrics, allowing you to evaluate its effectiveness.
- Delete – permanently removes the short link from the system. Once deleted, it will no longer function or redirect users.
